Stand aside, the behe-moths of the insect world have arrived

According to Daily Mail of August 30, With stunning colours and 12in wingspan, nine of the world's largest moths - have hatched at a butterfly sanctuary in Gloucestershire. These Atlas moths, which do not have fully-formed mouths and survive off fat they built up as caterpillars, only live for a maximum of two weeks. Atlas moths are found in the tropical and subtropical forests of South-East Asia.
据英国《每日邮报》8月30日报道，日前9只拥有奇异色彩、翅展达30.5厘米的世界最大蛾类在英国格洛斯特郡一家蝴蝶保护所内孵化。据悉，这些乌桕大蚕蛾口器发育不完全，消耗幼虫时期积累下来的脂肪，最多只能存活两个星期。乌桕大蚕蛾在热带以及东南亚的亚热带森林较为常见。

The sole purpose in life of the Atlas moth is to breed. They are found in the tropical and subtropical forests of South-East Asia and are common across the Malay archipelago.

Atlas moths are named after the intricate, colourful map-like patterns on their wings  It is the first time the moths have successfully bred and hatched offspring in two years.
The moths, which do not have fully-formed mouths and survive off fat they built up as caterpillars, only live for a maximum of two weeks.
They are unsteady fliers and the do not stray far. Their sole purpose of life as a moth is to breed. Atlas moths are found in the tropical and subtropical forests of South-East Asia and are common across the Malay archipelago.
