On Lottery
Lured by the big bucks, an increasing number of people in china purchase the lottery nowadays. Take Guangdong Province for example. The lottery sales in the province reach billions of RMB every year.
Government-launched lotteries benefit the country. For example, welfare lottery has provided impetus to China's welfare development. Statistics showed that from 1987 to 1997, governments at all levels invested 1.41 billion yuan into urban welfare facilities, while welfare lotteries provided to it 4.1 billion yuan during the same period. However, lottery has its cons as well. The lottery would promote people’s “get rich quick” fantasies and induce some people to spend so much money on it that they end in bankruptcy.
In my view, people should play the lottery now that it is good for the country’s development. But they should play it with a recreational, relaxed and normal attitude. They should buy it rationally, taking into account their own financial means.

Nowadays in many movies or TV series dialects could be found without difficulty. Maybe it’s the influence of some superstars who speak dialects that has led to such popularity of dialects.
Is the prevalence of dialects a good phenomenon? Different people see it quite differently. Some people say it’s ridiculous for movie characters to talk in dialects, which may turn out spoiling the aesthetic beauty of the movies as a whole of art, for some words of dialects are usually vulgar and full of curses. Others, however, consider it a good way to encourage cultural diversity for dialects to appear in movies and TV programs, which thereby become more dynamic and entertaining.
As for me, dialects should be used with care. I have seen some movies crammed in so many abusive dialects that they simply become annoying arguments between mobs. So dialects could be good, but not always.

Should parents read their children’s diaries? Some say, “Yes, they should”. If the child seemed to be having a problem and write it down in the diary, then if parents read it, it may help parents to know what they can do to give a hand. It could help a problem getting completely out of hand.
However, some people insist that parents should not read their children’s diary. Children should be allowed a certain amount of privacy as adults do. If parents have a question about what’s going on with their children, it’s their responsibility to open the channels of communication in different ways than to invade their privacy.
I feel that it is unwise to read children’s diaries, no matter what the circumstances are. Many teens keep diaries for the reason that they have ‘someone’ to talk to, confide in and vent their frustrations without causing any problems with friends and family. If parents feel their children are in trouble, don’t invade their privacy---that will only make things worse. Instead, talk with them.

Do we relay too much on computers? Yes, we do. Almost everything we do and every aspect of our life is affected by modern technology with computers above all. We use computers in business, public services, education and entertainment.
However, overreliance on computer may give rise to some problems. One is that people are more likely to make spelling mistakes when they have to handwrite something. Another is that people are so dependent on computers that they have lost the ability to think for themselves. If “the computer says XYZ”, then XYZ must be true. If you want to make someone believe you like an idiot, just tell him “that’s what the computer said”.
In my opinion, computers make our lives easier but we should never rely on them completely. These machines should be used as a tool to aid work rather than the only tool. Otherwise, chaos can occur when suddenly our computers crash or what is worse, refuse to take our orders.
