Shanghai Industry& Commerce Foreign Language College Library established in September 11, 2001. December 26, 2005 it moved to the new place. March 27, 2006 we started the trial running. October 20, 2006, at the college fifth anniversary, we held the opening ceremony. The library officially open to the all the people in the college.
Library serving objects are including a full college of more than 6000 students and 300 teachers, staff from NanKe Logistics Services Company. At the same time, we provide library services to the other colleges, universities and organizations in the HuiNan town and Educational and Scientific Park.
At the beginning of the library built we use the "Dan-cheng" automated management system, achieving the modernization of the entire literature of computerized information resources management of books and processing, circulation, periodicals management of library operations. Literature uses the "Chinese Book Classification" the fourth edition to classify and catalogue.
We pay attention to collect the culture, language and literature, business economy, tourism, electronics, computers and other areas of books and electronic publications and audio-visual materials and so on, do a good job in building the basic literature resources.The existing library collections, including more than 52 million copies of Chinese and foreign language books, 18,945 foreign language books included, three kinds of original periodicals. In 2007, we ordered  730 kinds of periodicals, 70 kinds of newspapers. In March 2005 the library purchased a local database "scholar" 100,000 electronic books
In 2003, our Library participated in the Shanghai University Network Library, sharing "Superstar" 320,000 electronic books, "VIP" more than 10,000 kinds of electronic periodicals, more than 2000 kinds of  electronic journals, 9 100 kinds of "Longyuan" electronic periodicals.
Our library has three departments: Circulation Department, Reading Department and Network Department. In Circulation Department, four-storey stack in library has more than 340,000 volumes Chinese books. Every floor has public retrieval computer for reader to use. The stack in Building 7 has Chinese books more than 120,000 volumes. These stacks also provide opening-shelf reading and lending service. Library lending services is provided in Monday-Thursday 8:00-17:00 Friday 8:00-15:30.Building Lending Services is provided in Wednesday 12:00-16:00.
Reading Department has 3 reading room: Chinese Reading room which has more than 40,000 volumes Chinese books and more than 700 kinds of Chinese periodicals. Foreign Language Reading Room shows the 20,000 volumes of English, French, Germany, Japanese, Korean, Spanish books and original edition periodical of English. The Reference Reading Room has Chinese and foreign article references and the books which written by our college teacher. It also includes Chinese and foreign books, periodicals, newspapers viewed the open-shelf; document copying; use of foreign language books; Reference; literature Push; tool inspection; collection promotion; new life into the Museum of Education.

The Network Department is responsible for planning , building, management of the library network, connecting with every department and the management of computer system applications. This department have network centre, 100 seats electronic reading room, 54 seats multimedia room, 100 seats individual studying room,198 seats reporting halls and the comprehensive Reading Room which have Chinese newspapers and the free publications.
