“If”, isn’t it a beautiful but useless word? If I had one more chance, if I made another choice, if I didn’t turn back to him, if ^
So many “if” s, so many pities.
We always speak “if” s, because we have regrets all the time. We want that every footstep makes a lily grow, but the pities as the shadow follows us. When we are drawn in the sadness, we are used to consoling ourselves with the “if” s. That seems to be a powerful anesthetic. But, the momentary relief is followed by worse suffering. “If” s are also like bunches of poppy. They have fatal pretty, which makes people immersed in the falsehood fabricated.
When people meet the setbacks, or do something regretful, they often rethink where wrong. It’s good. But after we acknowledge a mistake, we only complain or speak “if” s and that is our biggest problem.
The fact is already the fact, which happened and would never be changed. Those who speak the “if” s once and once again are just afraid for the reality. They stay in the bubbles, dodging the sharp actuality. Once the bubbles burst, they are bound to be smashed to pieces.
Helen Keller’s life has no “if” s. If she repined at Heaven and laid the blame on fate, she would never succeed. In fact, she did her best to “listen”, to “see”, and to “speak”, she told the world that going straight without “if” s was the shortcut to the success.
Long before, a tailor made a really beautiful dress. He was happy so he had a smoke. Unfortunately, the cigarette ash fell onto the clothes and burnt many holes in the dress. Against expectation, he didn’t say “if” s, but taped the edges with golden lines. So another beautiful and original dress was born. Even it was more popular.
Actually, only the incompetent speak “if” s to be hooked by their own lies. We live a real life, after all, and we shouldn’t rely on the “if” s constantly. When facing the pain, we need to be strong to admit that it is reality. Maybe it will be more painful, but we have got to know: it’s the best way to solve the problems.
Perhaps, “if” is perfect, but eventually it’s an imagination. Without Hermione’s time-turner, we’d better go ahead, with the experiments summarized from those “if” s. In this way, things in the reality will be as beautiful as the “if” s, above all, it’s real.
