逃 亡 的 故 事

two scottish soldiers taken prisoner when france fell to the germans in 1940 escaped, and made their way towards the spanish border. they were about to row across a river when two german soldiers stopped them. they thought their number was up, but stalled in broken french and finally found that the germans only wanted to cross too.

" so we paddled them across, " said the two scots later, " and charged them five francs each. "
