  Yang Liwei, born in Liaoning Province, who is a pilot, is 38 years old.

  On Oct.15th, China launched its Shenzhou Ⅴ manned spacecraft, with astronaut Yang Liwei aboard and Yang has become China’s first astronaut. Yang and his spacecraft orbited the earth 14 times during about 21 hours before he safely landed in North China the next day. The successful launch and return of the spacecraft made China the third country in space after Russia and the United States, and this marked the great success of the manned space program of China.
