一句日常口语Give you a ring,跟戒指没关系。到加拿大求学,刚刚开始,第一学期修化学实验,两人一组,我和一位男同学因为姓氏是同一个字母开头,被分成一组。有一次,实验拖了许久,超过了预先安排的三小时,但是接下来我还有课,只好先走,由那位男同学作完扫尾工作。他知道我需要化学反应的结果及数据才能写报告,好心的叫我不必担心,然后又加上一句:"I'll give you a ring tonight."
“给我一个戒指”,自估和这男生不熟,当时我怔在那儿,还没来得及回答,他紧接着说:“噢!我还不知道你的号码呢。”其实,他只是要打电话告诉我实验数据而已。
