Last night, my mom asked me an old question while we were walking in the park, “What are you going to be when you grow up?” “A fashion designer.” I answered without thinking. She has asked this question over ten times these several years, and I have never changed my answer. “Well, Molly, this dream is really charming.” She said with her soft voice, “But I think you should consider further. Not every one can succeed…”
In bed that night, as the moonlight came though my window, I realized that I had to consider seriously. I fell in love with art when I was a little kid. And I love painting and making gifts. Then I got order, I took an interested in making beautiful clothes for my dolls. Although my skill was clumsy and my works were not delicate enough, but they were pretty and unique. That made me fell so joyful that I could forget all the unhappiness. So I want to be a dress designer who always shows beauty of life to others. But both my parents are against me. Mom told me that this way is too difficult to be success, and my life will be full of uncertain and loneliness. She thought becoming a lawyer or a teacher is more suitable for a girl like me, because they are steady and respectable. But I like neither to be a layer nor a teacher. What should I do? Hold on to my like or listen to my mom’s words? It’s the first time my mind was shook.
Suddenly I remembered my cousin. I remembered what she said to me recently, “Molly, whatever your dream is, just keep trying. Don’t care other people’s opinions which try to dominate you. You could be what you want to be. I support you!” Her hands were on my shoulders, something shimmery in her eyes. When she as the same age of me, all she wanted to be is a film director. She study hard but failed. But she didn’t regret because she had tried. Tears were streaming down my cheeks. Why don’t I hold on to my dream? Why don’t I keep trying? Maybe I won’t be success, but I’ll never regret.
