Robinson Crusoe Book Review
I borrowed a very fascinating book from school, Robinson Crusoe. Every time I come home after school, I quickly throw my backpack aside and dive into the book. Only when my mom urges me do I reluctantly put the book down to do my homework. The plot of the story constantly captivates me, and before long, I finished reading Robinson Crusoe. It had a profound impact on me.
I started to wonder, if I were Robinson, what would I do? Would I be scared? Would I miss my parents? What would I do on that deserted island? Would I starve to death?
When the shipwreck happened, Robinson was washed ashore to a deserted island. It was uninhabited, with no food or shelter, yet Robinson never gave in to fate. If it were me, I don’t think I’d have the confidence or courage. I’d probably panic, cry loudly, and call out for my parents to save me, unsure of what to do.
Robinson lived alone on the island, facing many challenges, but he never surrendered to them. Instead, he bravely fought against all the difficulties. When there was no food, he made a fishing rod to catch fish. To improve his meals, he even crafted a spear to hunt small animals. His resourcefulness and intelligence kept him from starving. When there was no shelter, he built his own tent. On the island, Robinson lived a full and fulfilling life. If I were him, I wouldn’t know what to do. At home, everything is done for me — food is served, clothes are handed to me. Faced with these challenges, I would be completely helpless. Maybe I would be eaten by wild animals or starve to death on the island.
On the island, when Robinson saw other white men captured by the natives, he courageously fought the natives to rescue them. If I were him, I would probably just hide and pray to God not to let the natives capture me.
Compared to Robinson, I seem so cowardly. I have learned a lot from him. I want to learn from Robinson — to be independent and strong, to fight bravely against difficulties, and to maintain a positive attitude toward life.
