On the picture above is a tower with more than one thousand years history. The classical fragrance and far-reaching elegance raise its remote taste in the deposition of traditional culture. Unfortunately, this tower is on the edge of collapsing with its slant body. What a tragic loss!

Obviously, the clear message delivered by drawer, just like a morning call, is to warn us the regrettably perishing of historic sites. It is known that China was one of the four civilized ancient countries in the world. But keep your head up and look around, almost everything is in tune with the pace of modernization. Tremendous skyscrapers symbolize the booming economy, highways radiating in all directions show off the advanced transportation, supermarkets we frequently flock to are displaying compelling commodities, and even recreational areas are took over by modern square, entertainment clubs, KTVs and so forth. Yet, ancient architectures that stand for our traditional culture can be found nowhere. They are vanished from the gradually embrace of modern lifestyle; they are the sacrifices under the shadow of modernization.

However, in may part, the people who view -- that those old fashions are deserved to give in to the demands of modernization in the name of development and progress -- are missing the point. Historic sites are delivering their glaring value in the ways merely caught by sensitive minds. Firstly, they are the witnesses of flourish and downfall in so many dynasties, the only tangible means tracing back to the past through which the evolution of civilization can be known and studied. Moreover, they are the roots of our nation. Only upon these priceless spiritual treasures, can our nation maintain the core of competitive power against culture shock from west countries; but if they are lost, so rootless and empty we might feel that a big plus in world culture would loss as well. Thus, please preserve historic sites and keep our culture alive.
