　　“Lower”的意思是“较低的, 下级的, 下等的, 下游的”。 与“lower”合成的词很多，比较常见的有：“lower class”（下层社会）、“Lower House”（下议院）和“lower jaw”（下颌）。

　　“低收入家庭”中的“家庭”用“household”来表示，而不是“family”。它们之间的差别在于，“household”是一个更为宽泛的概念。
